We started this read-aloud last week, it's wonderful. Thought I would start a list here, just reply to this topic. I'll add more later on, but it's been on my mind to share this.

What I'm Using for Geography

I was so excited to get my books today. I've seen these before and finally dug in and got them all. We'll be using them for geography this year. I also got the map sets and teacher's guide to go along with them. At first, I only got the books because I wasn't sure I would follow through but after seeing them, they are perfect in story and interest - wonderful pictures, 'shorter' chapters so there is time for map work with them. Exactly what I like in living books. I got mine from Beautiful Feet Books - love this site! I got the composition books so they can do dictation, or whatever we choose to do extra or instead, for the lessons. They are perfect, very well made. Simple and sweet.

Thrift Books

Just want to share thriftbooks.com - if you don't know about it already! I was searching for Herbert S. Zim - He published a lot of nature, science, etc. Golden Guide readers. Thrift Books has somewhat of a nice collection of his books (All except the one I was looking for! What's Inside of Engines) Check out the site for needed school readers :)

Practice Math at Math U See

This may not be new to some, but thought it was a good find. This neat interactive worksheet generator on the mathusee.com has some very helpful math practice. I haven't been there in a while, but this might be helpful to some needing practice sheets for the kids. Lots of different scenarios, free! Click image :)

Homeschool curriculum worth looking at!

I'm getting our new school year together, and while I'll probably share more, here are two resources I think are worth looking at. I like that both use the Charlotte Mason technique, and living books can be incorporated. #1 is Wonder Filled Days, specifically her Nature Calendar Membership! (two options, calendar only $1.99 a month, or all the extensions below $4.99 a month) I'm not an affiliate, just a fan. You'll get:

Since my kids are middle-high school now, I'm planning on tweaking the younger books for older, advancing art and poetry etc. Older children love nature study just as much as the younger! I'm starting in September, perhaps I'll come back here and list the books I've worked in, and our successes. Also, check out her "Books We Love" - I love living book ideas. #2 is Winter Promise. I'm going to do another post shortly. I ran out of time this morning! 😂
